My book reviews on this blog generally follow this rating scale:
5 stars: This book is practically perfect in every way and is one of my favorite books of all time.
4.5 stars: This book was really, really great! I have read more than once, and it stands up under rereading.
4 stars: This book was really great! I may read it again, in fact.
3.5 stars: This book was good, and I enjoyed reading it! It had some flaws.
3 stars: This book was pretty good. It was fun to read but had several flaws OR Meh, it wasn't my favorite, but I can't find much to pick on.
2.5 stars: This book was fine. It had some problems OR I liked this book, but there was too much immorality for it to be three stars.
2 stars: Too many problems for it to be enjoyable.
(I don't think I've ever rated anything less than 2 stars? But I guess there's a first time for everything, so if I ever get below 2, I'll add to this chart.)
Obviously, book ratings are also just generally subjective, which is why in all of my rating posts, I talk about what I like and dislike about the book, and then a bit about why I gave it the rating I did. I know that some people will disagree with my ratings, but it's my hope that people might be able to find new books that they love on this blog, even if they're ones that I don't personally like as much!

Just so you know, I'm an extremely tough reviewer--I have probably only read six or seven five-star books/series in my life (Lord of the Rings, The Queen's Thief, Narnia)! So if I rate a book 3.5 stars (or somtimes even 2.5 stars, for that matter), that doesn't mean I didn't like it--it just means it wasn't "practically perfect in every way", and maybe had some content difficulties. 4.5 stars is usually saved for books I've reread, if I think they merit it at that point, and 4 stars is for great new books. So if you don't know, now you know, Mr. President. 😉
Also, sometimes my ratings depend on mood, because I'm human...but none of my book ratings are going to be more than half a star in range from what I might have rated it on a different day.
