The Silmaril Awards 2024: Nominations Open!

*bounces into the blog* HELLO WONDERFUL PEOPLES OF THE INTERNET! I am here on a Monday in September, and you know what that means? IT'S SILMARIL TIME!!! *dances tiny jig* I'm so excited to host another Silmaril this year! They're a massive highlight of the blogging year for me (even if they make my dorm room super crowded, and last year's Silmarils resulted in the PDA levels at Newman skyrocketing exponentially ;)). In case you've never heard of these illustrious awards, and are wondering what the heck Samantha is freaking out about, the Silmaril awards are the equivalent of the Tonys or Oscars or Golden Globes...but for fantasy characters. Awarded by Tolkien and Lewis's characters in multiple awards ceremonies at the end of the month of September, each Silmaril honors a character in one of ten categories. The best part? A Few Life Updates

Well hey! Hi! How's it going? It's been a Hot Second since I've shared some Good Old-Fashioned Life Updates. And boy howdy are there some to share. I'm going to make this brief, because I've been trying to write this post for like three months and have been too intimidated for some reason, mostly because I feel like I have to write tons of stuff for each thing and include pictures, so I'm going to keep this to bullet points with no pictures because I need to just get past this post so I can write other things! When will I write other things, you ask? No clue. But hopefully other things will get written at some point! Okay, so the updates: 1. I finished my thesis! It was only 177 pages long, and I'm incredibly proud of it. Dominican cloister gardens for the win. :) Apparently, one of the Dominicans on the West Coast who I know and love sent it to all of the Dominicans in the Western Province (kill me now) and someone at the Angelicum has been sending it to a...

November Wrap-Up

How is November almost over? That means we're almost to December! And didn't we just start 2021 like a month ago? Maybe three months? XD In any case, my November was really amazing! It was busy, yes, insane, yes, I had a lot on my plate, yes, but I got to do a lot of amazing things, watch a lot of amazing things, read a lot of amazing things, and write some things that I hope will be amazing someday with a lot of editing. Let's get to it! 1. To get the obvious question out of the way first, yes, I won NaNoWriMo! I in fact won it before we were 2/3 of the way through the month. *hides* (What can I say, I'm really good at getting things done when they're for fun and not school related. XD Not that I'm not good at getting school things done, too, I just...yeah, anyway. I'm good at making myself do stuff. Moving on.)
